This position assists in the overall Recreation Department operation. The department oversees all recreation activities for children-adults, fitness center, spa and fitness classes, 2 aquatic facilities, a café, two rec centers parks/playgrounds, and concierge/residential services. Within your position you would oversee the Fitness Operations at Forest Highlands Golf Club including fitness classes, personal training, fitness center and attendants, Aquatics area and massage program.
Duties may include: (not all inclusive)
o The department oversees all recreation activities and events for children-adults, fitness center, spa and fitness classes, two aquatic facilities, a café, two rec centers parks/playgrounds, and concierge/residential services.
o Assist in supervising Recreation Department Managers, Supervisors & staff.
o Have the ability to work independently within the established policies and procedures and develop daily, monthly, yearly objectives.
o Develop Member relationships and show a high level of customer service.
o Assist the Recreation Director with hiring & training all staff.
o Be able to perform all office duties including creating schedules for all staff and booking concierge services.
o Make recommendations to improve the Recreation Department.
o Be able to step in when the Recreation Director is away or not available.
o The Assistant Director must be prepared to complete any and all duties assigned to them to better serve the members of Forest Highlands.
o Maintain a positive, mature and professional attitude toward staff members in all departments.
o Communicate with Marketing & Advertising personnel to develop communication publications (i.e. Calendar of Events, monthly Voice in the Pines, weekly email blasts and Member texts).
o Schedule all staff using our scheduling software. This includes preparing the schedule (shifts), entering time off requests, organizing staff extracurricular schedules, respond to staff emails and time off requests
o Reviews, data enters and ensures that charges for all services rendered are being accounted for within the Jonas system.
Fitness Operations include:
o Oversee the Fitness Operations at Forest Highlands Golf Club including the Fitness Supervisor, fitness classes, personal training, fitness center and attendants, and massage program.
o Monitor and record fitness center attendance
o Clean and perform equipment maintenance
o Perform equipment and needed supply purchases
o Manage fitness center voicemail, promotional materials, fitness center Member/guest usage
o Help and give sound fitness advice to the Members in the fitness center
o Monitor and supervise fitness classes
o Create monthly fitness class schedules and calendars
o Take/fill massage appointments
o Run spa days/services
o Fitness Promotional Materials
o Fitness Payroll and Charges to Director - bi-monthly
Aquatics Operations include:
o Oversee Aquatics Operation and maintenance of both swimming pools
o Implement safety standards and practices, which relate to the operation of private pools, for the safety of our users.
o Educate others in the principles, practices, and application of lifesaving and first aid techniques; emergency services available
o Enforce rules and regulations pertaining to pool use
o Scheduling and daily supervision of additional pool employees
o Use consistent record keeping methods and procedures.
o Continuing Education (training, meetings, local groups, etc.)
o Organize swim lesson program
o Plan, implement and market pool special events
o Oversee Pool towel contracts
o Operate both facilities within designated budget
o Contract additional maintenance professional when necessary
o Maintain a consistent pool deck in services and appearance
Recreation Programs & Events Operations include:
o Register children for activities and maintain responsibility for those children until a parent or guardian picks them up.
o Use appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
o Communicate daily with parents/guardians via written and verbal means.
o Take every measure to ensure the safety of participants in activities.
o Drive children to on-site and off-site programs.
o Work closely with Food & Beverage Team Members when placing food orders and serving children. Alert F&B of any food allergies when placing orders.
o Oversee children while swimming.
o Have a positive attitude when working with Members and children.
o Render emergency first aid and CPR according to prescribed procedures, and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary.
o Assist in planning and implementing programs & events.
o Step into programs as a Supervisor or Staff when needed.
Oversee the creation, planning and organizing of Recreation programs & events within the Calendar of Events.
Concierge/Residential Services Operations include
oGreet customers. Assess their needs and explain services, processes and guidelines as related to Recreation Department Operations.
oReply to all member/customer inquiries via telephone and email.
oEnsure all correspondence is created (typed), reviewed and sent accordingly.
o Use tact, discretion, and good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
oCoordinate the schedule and documentation for services being performed for members while updating and creating staffing to fill the services being provided.
o Reviews, data enters and ensures that charges for all services rendered are being accounted for within the Jonas system.
Requirements
Desired Experience:
A minimum of 5 years working in the fitness and Aquatics field required
Two years of direct experience with pool operations (life guarding, swim instruction, maintenance) with increasing responsibility
Two years of direct experience with wellness and spa operations (massage therapy, fitness classes, personal training) with increasing responsibility
A minimum of 2 years working in a Supervisory role is required
Must have clean driving record
Must have or be able to obtain a fingerprint clearance card
Must have a minimum of 60 college credits with at least 12 credits in recreation, sports medicine, health, physical education, physical therapy, education or related field
Current First Aid and CPR Certification
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or YMCA Lifeguard Training Certificate
Water Safety Instructor Certification is preferred
Nationally recognized personal Training Certification
Nationally recognized Group Fitness Certification
Compensation and Benefits:
As part of the compensation plan, this is a year round Full Time Salaried employee starting at $65k to $67k depending on qualifications plus a 10% bonus opportunity.
